SLT treatment is one of many treatments available for glaucoma. Surgery includes operations such as trabeculectomy with mitomycin (which is the gold standard procedure) or deep sclerectomy, the "istent", or other tube implants. Surgery offers a more appropriate option in some cases, and the decision as to laser or surgery can be a difficult choice. Laser is a more patient-friendly treatment and can delay the need for surgery for many years, or avoid the need completely.
